Olivia and Alex Bowen Introduce Baby Siena After Life-Threatening Birth: “I Fought to Stay Awake – I Thought I Was D.y.i.n.g”

Olivia and Alex Bowen have finally introduced their newborn daughter Siena Grace to the world — and the couple couldn’t look happier. Sitting in their Essex home with six-week-old Siena cradled in her mother’s arms, the pair tell OK! that their family of four is now “complete.”

But behind their smiles lies a terrifying story. Siena’s arrival on 14 August was far from smooth. Olivia, 31, recalls the moment she feared for her life after suffering a severe haemorrhage shortly after Siena’s birth. “I just remember thinking, ‘I need to keep my eyes open,’ because I could feel myself slipping away,” she said. “It was the scariest moment of my life. I lost 2.8 litres of blood — and three litres can be fatal.”

Her dream of a peaceful homebirth quickly turned into an emergency Caesarean. Alex, 34, admits the experience left him shaken: “I’m not going to sugar-coat it. Both of our children’s births were traumatic. All I care about now is that Liv and the babies are safe.”

The couple’s joy at Siena’s safe arrival was tinged with sadness — the pregnancy began as twins, but they lost one early on due to “vanishing twin syndrome.” Despite this heartbreak, Olivia says she’s at peace: “I know I tried my hardest, and what happened, happened. Siena’s here, she’s safe, and I’m healing.”

Their son Abel, now three, has embraced his new role as big brother, even bringing homemade cupcakes to the hospital to welcome his mum and baby sister. “It was the sweetest thing,” Olivia smiled. “Our family is 100% complete. Having a little boy and girl — it’s everything I ever dreamed of.”

The couple’s upcoming ITV2 series Olivia & Alex: Parenthood will give fans an intimate look at Siena’s arrival and the Bowens’ new chapter. Alex, who has been open about men’s mental health since losing his best friend to suicide in 2022, says the show reflects their real, imperfect but deeply loving family life. “We’re not quitters,” he says. “We’ve faced so much, but we always find our way back to each other.”
