TV favourite Stephen Mulhern has left fans stunned after a rare and deeply personal confession about his private life — and it all centres around one thing no one expected: babies. 
Usually known for guarding his personal world with secrecy, the Deal or No Deal host once revealed a heartfelt truth about fatherhood, and that moment has now resurfaced — leaving fans across the country emotional and intrigued.
A Rare Glimpse Behind the Curtain
The much-loved presenter, who became a household name through Dancing on Ice, Catchphrase, and You Bet!, has always preferred to let his work speak louder than words.
But back in 2014, Stephen offered fans a rare look behind the curtain — admitting his quiet wish to become a father one day.
“Do I miss having a partner? Not really, and that’s because I’m very busy,” he told The Mirror at the time.
“There’s plenty of time for that yet. And would I like kids one day? Absolutely. Of course.”
He even joked about his friend Simon Cowell, saying Simon becoming a dad at 54 proved “it’s never too late.”
The Quiet Life of a TV Icon
Now 47, Stephen remains one of ITV’s most recognisable faces, currently fronting the reboot of Deal or No Deal after taking over from Noel Edmonds in 2023.
Despite his success, Stephen keeps his private life tightly sealed, rarely discussing love or family in public.
In recent years, he’s been linked to This Morning presenter Josie Gibson, after the pair were spotted holding hands outside a studio following Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Fans immediately speculated about romance, but Josie later clarified to OK! Magazine that the two are just “best friends.”
“Stephen is amazing,” she said warmly. “But we’re not together — we’re just really close.”
Past Romance and Honest Reflections
Stephen’s most well-known romantic link goes back to 2008, when he reportedly grew close to EastEnders actress Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell).
The pair met while starring together in a pantomime production of Snow White in Birmingham and were often seen together before quietly parting ways.
Neither confirmed the relationship, but Stephen later admitted it came to a “natural end,” explaining that their friendship had simply “run its course.”
“I Need a Life…”
In a 2018 interview with Celebs Now, Stephen opened up again — this time with brutal honesty.
“Last time I went on a date was about four years ago,” he revealed. “That makes me sound really sad! I need a life. I need to stop working so much.”
Still, fans haven’t given up hope that love and family life might one day become part of Stephen’s story.
