Eternal Glamour: Jane Fonda, 87, Helen Mirren, 80, and Gillian Anderson, 57 – Three generations of glamour in one night prove that age is just a number

Jane Fonda, 87, Helen Mirren, 80, and Gillian Anderson, 57, lit up Paris Fashion Week on Monday night as they took centre stage at L’Oréal’s glittering “Liberty. Equality. Sisterhood. Because You’re Worth It” runway. The show unfolded in front of the iconic Paris City Hall, with superstars Kendall Jenner, Heidi Klum and Cara Delevingne also strutting their stuff.

Despite their ages, the three actresses looked every bit as glamorous as the younger models. Jane shimmered in a floor-length silver gown paired with sparkling shoes, Helen commanded attention in a metallic long-sleeve top with velvet gloves and tailored trousers, while Gillian stunned in a strappy silver dress.

Helen Mirren used the occasion to reflect on the way society views ageing, admitting what frustrates her most is the condescending attitude from younger people. “The hardest part is the condescension. It really annoys me,” she said. Recalling a moment with her husband Taylor Hackford, she shared: “If my husband and I are holding hands, someone might say, ‘Oh, look. How sweet.’ It’s like—excuse my language—‘F**k off.’ They think they’re being kind, but they’re being insulting.”

Helen revealed her mother had once given her perspective on ageing that she’s carried with her: “She said, ‘Never be afraid of getting older. At 18 the thought of being 35 is horrific. Then you reach 35 and it’s better than 18. At 55, you realise you’ve gained as much as you’ve lost.’ That’s certainly been true for me.”

Currently starring in The Thursday Murder Club alongside Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie, Helen continues to embrace roles that prove age is no barrier to relevance or glamour.

Meanwhile, the show also saw Molly-Mae Hague make a surprise runway debut in a satin silver gown, a year after she admitted body confidence struggles had held her back. Smiling alongside Rochelle Humes, Molly-Mae’s confident appearance added another uplifting moment to a night that celebrated beauty across generations.
