From Dancing On Ice to heartbreak: Claire Sweeney’s brave return after Ricky Hatton’s shock death

Claire Sweeney has been seen returning to work following the devastating loss of her “cherished” ex-boyfriend, boxing legend Ricky Hatton.

The former world champion was found dead at his home in Greater Manchester last Sunday, aged just 46. Police confirmed they are not treating his death as suspicious.

On Friday, Claire put on a brave face as she arrived in Manchester to film ITV’s Celebrity Lingo. Dressed casually in a navy tracksuit, trainers, and carrying a gold Gucci bag, the actress completed her look with full makeup and soft waves in her blonde hair.

Earlier this week, Claire shared an emotional tribute online, posting a video montage to the soundtrack of Elvis Presley’s If I Can Dream. She wrote that she had needed “a few days to process the devastating news” and sent her love to Ricky’s children Campbell, Millie, Fearne, and Lyla, as well as his granddaughter. “Ricky, you were the people’s champ. We adored and cherished you. Love you always,” she added.

Ricky and Claire had known each other for years but became romantically involved after appearing together on Dancing On Ice in January 2024. They dated for eight months but remained close friends following their split.

In a statement, Ricky’s family said they were “distraught” but insisted he had been “in a good place” before his death. They revealed he was preparing for a trip to Dubai to promote a comeback fight and was planning a celebration with his daughters at the centre. He was also described as a doting grandfather who loved spending time with Campbell and Lyla

The family said the outpouring of grief has brought them “comfort and pride” and asked for privacy as they plan a memorial service in Ricky’s honour.
