Dave Hughes has opened up about the downfall of his radio show in 2024, and shared some very choice words about the end of The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
The comedian, 55, said he has âgiven up caringâ when it comes to sharing his opinions on the world of showbusiness, according to Nine.
He added that when it comes to turnover in radio, âit honestly doesnât matterâ if someone is successful or not, because in the end, everyoneâs âtime is comingâ.
âI know them, and theyâre fine. I have no issue with them,â he said of former KIIS FM hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie âOâ Henderson.
âBut, you know, when you promote how much money youâre making and then half the people around you have been sacked because thereâs no money left, itâs clearly going to you⌠The company is eventually going to go, âWell, we canât make money.â
âItâs a tough environment now. Media is tough. We all know that because of the change in the world and the way that advertisers are spending their money.â

Dave went on to say radio stations used to have âabout 100 desksâ filled with staff, but ânow thereâs about two peopleâ.
âThereâs no one in there. Itâs a different world. Thatâs something in many different environments now, and itâs going to continue,â he said.
Daveâs own 2DayFM show, Hughesy, Ed & Erin, came to a sudden end in 2024, which Dave now says has given him a clearer outlook on how the industry works.
âIt honestly doesnât matter whether youâre the best or the worst, whether you get a $100million contract and you look like youâre the beeâs knees, because five minutes later you could be gone,â he said.
When asked who he wanted to see take over the KIIS FM breakfast slot from industry titans Kyle Sandilands and Jackie âOâ Henderson â he said what everyone is thinking.
âI donât care, to be honest. The world has changed so much that I donât think itâs as big of a deal as it used to be. Whoever goes into any job, I hope they do well,â he said.
Kyle, 54, and Jackie O, 51, are currently in the middle of a massive legal battle against ARN over the termination of their historic radio contracts.
Their popular show collapsed in March, just two years after they signed a landmark 10-year contract worth a combined $200million.
Has radio become too ruthless, or is it just the nature of entertainment today?
Whatâs your view?

Daveâs interview comes just days after he shared his battle with skin cancer, revealing on Thursday that he has had five cancerous lesions removed.
The comedian stood shirtless in the street in a video shared on Instagram, in which he displayed his many bandages after undergoing surgical treatment earlier that day.
Dave further explained in his caption that he had received 45 stitches to close the wounds.
âI had five skin cancers cut off today,â Dave said in the clip, before explaining that he was soldiering on and driving to his comedy gig in Cowes, Victoria, that night.
âIâm going to Cowes. Itâs a two and a half hour drive away. Iâve got a gig there tonight. People need me. Iâve gotta be there. If I donât go, they donât have fun,â he insisted.
The funnyman added that he also needed the pay, so had to head to work even if he should technically take a break to recover.
âIf I donât go, I donât get paid. But you know what? Itâs a gig economy. I canât have a month off,â he said.
Dave then got into his car to drive to Cowes despite not feeling his best.
âWhatâs 45 stitches between friends?â Dave added in his caption, referring to the number of sutures he had received.
Dave is currently touring Australia for his new stand-up show, Cooked.
