Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty officially divorce after 13-year marriage. Did a third party cause the breakdown of their relationship? The real reason Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty split

TV couple Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have stunned fans by confirming their separation after 13 years of marriage, issuing a joint statement to say: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.”

The pair, who first met while co-hosting Fame Academy in 2002, only went public with their relationship nearly a decade later and tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Rome in 2012. They share two sons, Milo and James.

Despite building a life together that spanned continents—from Cat’s Emmy-nominated success in Los Angeles to Patrick’s growing presence on Irish television—the pressures of distance and demanding schedules appear to have taken their toll.

In recent months, cracks began to show. Cat was notably absent from the funeral of Patrick’s mother in Northern Ireland earlier this year. A spokesperson said at the time that she remained home to care for their sons, but the emotional distance was evident. Their last public interaction was an October 2023 Instagram post by Cat featuring a quirky ’90s-style slideshow of the couple, captioned: “Slightly terrifying but obsessed.”

Just last summer, the pair seemed very much in love while holidaying in Saint-Tropez, seen holding each other close on the beach. But insiders now suggest that the couple’s increasingly separate lives in London and Ireland contributed to their drifting apart.

While Cat has become a familiar face on ITV’s This Morning alongside Ben Shephard, Patrick has been busy hosting The Late Late Show for RTE. The demands of two high-profile careers in different countries may have quietly driven a wedge between them.

In their statement, the couple asked for privacy and emphasised their commitment to co-parenting, saying: “We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected.”
