Sixteen years after Natasha Richardson’s tragic death, the makeup artist who prepared her for her final farewell has shared the deeply moving note Liam Neeson left her in gratitude.
Renowned celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter revealed on Instagram how she was entrusted with one of the most emotional tasks of her career—doing the “lying in state” makeup for Natasha, who died aged 45 in March 2009 after a skiing accident in Canada.

Natasha suffered a fatal epidural hematoma after falling on a beginner’s slope. Initially refusing medical help, her condition deteriorated, and she passed away two days later in a New York hospital. After her private funeral, Liam personally thanked Sandy for giving his wife what he described as a “queen-like” appearance one last time.

In her post, Sandy recalled: “I was asked to make her up while she was lying in state. An Irish custom. She looked like a queen. Two months later, Liam called me to his apartment. He asked if I was doing well, then disappeared into another room and came back with this note.”
Dated 4 May 2009, Liam’s heartfelt message read: “Dear Sandy. My family and I are so appreciative of what you did for our Natasha. We were deeply touched by your gesture, and realize how difficult it must have been for you. It meant so much to all of us.”

Sandy also touched on Liam’s new chapter in life—his blossoming romance with his Naked Gun co-star Pamela Anderson. While neither Liam, 73, nor Pamela, 58, has confirmed the relationship, their public appearances together have been filled with warmth—cheek kisses, easy laughter, and even inviting their adult sons to join them on the red carpet.
“I’m so happy for him,” Sandy added. “He’s such a good guy. If you’re into on-screen chemistry, it’s all there!”
