Karl Stefanovic and Eddie McGuire debuted as a radio duo on Friday as they launched The Long Weekend on Gold Network.
The media titans kicked off the show with a subtle dig at Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, the former stars of ARN, which is the parent company of Gold FM.
Karl, 51, came out of the gate for his first foray into radio with a tongue-in-cheek swipe at ex-KIISFM star Kyle, 55, and his famed gold microphone.
‘I was half expecting, even though I’ve never done radio before, a gold microphone. No gold microphone?’ Karl said.
‘There is one in the building if you’d like it,’ joked the show’s anchor Toni Tenaglia.
‘Can someone get me that [gold microphone]. Is that part of the legal thing?’ Karl said, referencing Kyle’s legal battle with ARN over the axing of The Kyle & Jackie O Show.

‘That’s going down like a lead balloon out there,’ Eddie joked. ‘We might start with an astrology segment.’
The Kyle & Jackie O Show collapsed earlier this year after longtime co-hosts Kyle and Jackie, 51, had an explosive on-air fight over an astrology segment.
The Long Weekend officially launched on Friday afternoon with a promise to ‘deliver a sharp, energetic take on the biggest stories across news, sport and entertainment’.
Karl and Eddie spent the first show discussing the World Cup with former Socceroo Robbie Slater and chatting with Australian NBA superstar Josh Giddey.
They also caught up with former footballer and Bluestone Lane founder Nick Stone and answered live listener questions.
The entertainment veterans wrapped the show with a live segment in front of an audience as they welcomed a performance by Mark Gable and The Choirboys.
The Bachelorette star Georgia Love also landed a presenting spot on the show.
She revealed the news earlier this week when she shared the career update on social media on Tuesday night.
‘I was half expecting, even though I’ve never done radio before, a gold microphone. No gold microphone?’ Karl said
‘Cat’s out of the bag!’ Georgia wrote.
‘I am absolutely THRILLED to announce I’m joining Eddie McGuire and Karl Stefanovic’s brand new show The Long Weekend, starting THIS WEEK!
‘We’ll be on air on Gold across the country 12-3pm Fridays, and streaming on 9Now and Stan. Excited is an understatement!’
